The Southwest Light Rail Transit (SWLRT), or METRO Green Line Extension, is a high-frequency train that will connect downtown Minneapolis to Eden Prairie through St. Louis Park, Hopkins and Minnetonka.
The line will include 15 new stations, including four in Eden Prairie. It will be part of an integrated system of transitways, including connections to the METRO Blue Line, the Northstar Commuter Rail line, many bus routes and proposed future transitways. The majority of the construction work is anticipated to begin in 2019 and go through 2022. Passenger service is expected to start in 2023.
